• Clean gutters and downspouts because once those leaves have fallen, your gutters can become clogged and during a rainstorms can cause water to pool and damage your roof or siding. This is a tip that will help you save money down the road.
• Keep those nasty critters out of your home and attic by sealing up any gaps that you may see in your garage or attic. It only takes a small hole for mice to enter and set up a shelter for the winter.
• Stock up on any supplies you may need down the road such as emergency car kits, shovels, ice scrapers and pet safe ice melt for your sidewalks and walkways.
• Weatherstripping placed around your door frames and windows can help with winter warmth and cut energy costs. Door sweeps can help keep the warm air in and the cold air out.
• Check your safety devices such as smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors; replace batteries as needed. Check your fire extinguisher and make sure it’s up to date.
• Clean those dryer vents; all that lint buildup in your dryer can cause a fire and keep your dryer from working correctly.
• If you have a fireplace, you might want to schedule a chimney cleaning. Make sure to add a chimney cap if you don’t have one to keep little nasty elves from coming down the chimney. (You only want Santa sliding down the chimney and not Mickey Mouse).
• Think of having a HVAC System Check up so that you know if there are any issues with your furnace or heating system before you have to use it. It’s just a good and important safety measure to do.
