Summer Home Maintenance Tips to Spruce Up Your Home

Read on to discover a few summer home maintenance tips to spruce up and get your home in tip-top shape. These thoughtful maintenance tips will keep your home safe from damage and make it more desirable.

Summer is already here, and that means the season of warm weather has began. It is that time that we get worried about heat, summer storms, humidity and soaring air conditioning bills. Use these summer home maintenance tips to possibly save you some money later on down the line.

Paint exteriors

Boost the exterior appearance of your home by restoring the exteriors with a fresh new paint. The warm weather makes it easier to touch up the paint on the exterior walls to give it a fresh new look and feel.  You can do exterior painting on your own or hire a paint professional to help you.

Wash exterior windows

Summer is characterized by sandstorms, which means that your outside widows are likely to be grubby and dusty very often. Wash windows from outside using a little elbow grease until they become sparkling clean.  Clean the window exteriors thoroughly with hot soapy water and scrub gently with a sponge.

Clean the air conditioning systems

Your first priority for maintaining the condition of your home this summer is to have your air conditioning (AC) tuned-up. It is what will keep you cool throughout this warm weather. Ensure you dust and clean AC filters using vacuum cleaners every two weeks. Remember to clean ceiling blades to get rid of dust that has accumulated over time.

Bathroom vent fans

During summer, bathroom ceiling vent fans are likely to collect dust making them a bit noisy and less efficient.  One way to clean and maintain a bathroom vent is to remove the cover, clear the dust out using a vacuum cleaner, and spray any moving parts with silicon lubricant. This will make your fan quietly humming again.
