How to Make Tenants Feel at Home

How to Make Tenants Feel at Home

At Real Property Management Enterprises, we work hard to make the OKC property owner and the the tenant feel welcome. But today, we will focus on how to make tenants feel at home. In welcoming new tenants moving in, landlords or property management companies can make the experience more fulfilling by providing delightful welcome packages.

A thoughtful welcome package such as a gift card or parking information can go a long way at making new tenants feeling appreciated and happy to move into their new home. Tenants or Residents want to feel valued and respected, so connect to their emotions using tactics such as sending a thank you note, having maintenance done on time, asking tenants what they would value at renewal and so on. Tenants will also be more willing to promote your business through word-of-mouth along with becoming repeat customers.

When new tenants move in, provide them with everything they need to get settled.  Remember: Try to make the Tenants Feel at Home by smiling and being welcoming yourself. Also other things can include:Tenants feel at home

Rent payment information – make sure tenants have all the information regarding how, where and when to pay rent.

Trash disposal, laundry, and mailbox information – save the tenants a headache by providing details about where to put trash, where the mailboxes are and how to use the laundry.

Parking information – does your apartment offer parking? Make sure new tenants know which space is theirs and what guidelines are in place.

Emergency and maintenance information – have emergency contacts printed and easily accessible at via the vestibule of the apartment

List of utility companies with contact information – includes electricity, gas, cable etc

In addition to the above useful information, you can enhance your tenant’s welcome package by offering the following:

  • A supply of toilet paper and soap to aid in cleaning and dusting the place
  • Laundry money to help them kick start their laundry
  • A shower curtain liner to use while they unpack
